Vision Statement

Working towards a community where all women and children are treated with respect and dignity, living safe, secure and empowered lives.

Service Philosophy

Our Service:

  • will operate in a professional, efficient and caring manner
  • will be a centre for excellence for services to women and children escaping violence
  • will practice inclusiveness of women and children of all races, social and economic backgrounds
  • will aim to bring about wider societal change to help women and children to live without exposure to violence

Our Clients:

  • have the right to feel safe and secure at all times
  • have the right to live successful and fulfilling lives free of violence and abuse
  • are entitled to supportive and informed staff who facilitate choice through providing a quality case management framework

Our work must:

  • be practiced in a respectful, efficient, compassionate, non-judgemental and confidential manner
  • empower our clients to take control of their lives, and make changes for the better
  • recognise the specific rights of children, and do all possible to combat the effects of exposure to violence

Service Principles

We operate on the understanding that:

  • Domestic/family/sexual/community violence is a crime.
  • Women and children have the right to live safely in their own homes and in the community
  • The safety and continuing protection of women and their children who have experienced or are experiencing violence is of paramount importance.
  • The responsibility for acts of violence against women and children lies with the perpetrator
  • The various language and cultural needs of women and children should be incorporated into service delivery
  • Prevention means addressing the social roots of violence against women and children, not just the symptoms.
