We operate on the understanding that:
- Domestic/family/sexual/community violence is a crime.
- Women and children have the right to live safely in their own homes and in the community
- The safety and continuing protection of women and their children who have experienced or are experiencing violence is of paramount importance.
- The responsibility for acts of violence against women and children lies with the perpetrator
- The various language and cultural needs of women and children should be incorporated into service delivery
- Prevention means addressing the social roots of violence against women and children, not just the symptoms.
